Moms of Toddlers

One word, ok maybe 2 words. Tommee Tippee. Does your children drink out of the straw cups? Mine do, they have been since I weaned them off the bottle at a year old. They just prefer the straw cups as opposed to the sippy cups. But if your like me and have been buying those straw cups for over 2 years you know one horrible flaw, one promise made that they haven't followed through with, they are most definitely NOT spill proof. First off, get a little pressure underneath one of the regular straw cups and their drink just come up that straw like a volcano you can't control. Then put one of those cups into the hands of an animal like Oliver and liquid is just coming out everywhere! He throws it and you better believe water/milk is coming out, he leaves it laying down and a puddle of drink is accumulating on my floor. I visited the baby cup isle no matter what store I was at, no matter what my list consisted of to see if there was ever anything new. I tried all the brands! The packaging they come in is more exit proof than the cups themselves.

Three weeks ago, I was at Babies R Us and saw a new cup, yes it pretty much looked the same as the other so I hesitated a little, then I saw a brand name I had never seen in the other cups, Tommee Tippee. I knew now, I had to get it and give it a try. First day, no leaks and the first thing that happened when I gave the full cup to Oliver? It was thrown on my wood floors. Not one drop spilled out, I was already impressed. Waiting throughout the day to see if the cups would start spilling over. Nope, nothing. Days went by and still I saw no liquid spilling out anywhere. Another plus of the cup is the straw is actually long enough to get all the liquid in the cups as opposed to the competitors they leave a gap of about 2 inches so the drink is never really finished. Cleaning is easy, again, the competitors have way to many rubber nooks and crannies which make it really hard to clean after a while of use.

They are just a few dollars more for a pack of 2 , but a few dollars is a small price to pay for not spilling milk or juice all over!

So overall I love these cups and would recommend them to any one over all the other cups. I thought I would blog about it because these are lifesavers if your like me and frustrated with leaky cups.

****I was not paid or compensated in any way what so ever by anyone to review this product. These are my own opinions derived from a random buy at the store one day.

Fun Filled

So Friday night hubs and I had a wonderful date night! It started out with going to BJ's (my favorite) for some dinner. We were actually able to sit at the bar and eat and have a drink, I dont know when the last time we did that was! Then after dinner we headed over to the Thomas and Mack Center to see REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar in concert! It was soooo soooo much fun, we danced and sang the night away and they both sang all their hits which was even better! It was definitely a great night, something to try and strive to do for all future date nights. Next concert, Cher!!! Love her!!!

Getting ready to leave!
Here was Pat and Spider singing together, hubs didnt send me the one of REO Speedwagon =(.

Then Saturday, we went to Laughlin to celebrate birthdays all around. My hubs, my sis inlaws and another friends birthdays are all close so they wanted to do this, so we all got a lake house for the weekend on the Colorado river and it was awesome. Rented jet skiis for the weekend as well. It was a very good time. We actually want to do it again this summer and take more people like my mom and dad and brother and a few others too!

At the house we had our own private dock and "beach".

The kids playing and its all shady!!
Hubs taking Jack out to the water!

Oli is a little confused.

My babe and I...he was so ready for a nap here and knocked out literally minutes after.

Now its our turn to play! Hubs and Chantel took turns driving and made it their mission to throw me off the jet skii, too bad Im much too strong. Then we brought hubs back and her and I took off for a while chasing boats.

Eating a popsicle, while thinking of what to do next.

Hubs putting toys together.
Singing happy birthday to everyone!
Playing some foosball!

Irvine Lake Mud Run - Fight Against Blindness

So Saturday I went down to California for the IrvineLake Mud Run, my sister inlaw, cousin and I ran for Gavins Groupies for the fight against blindness! This cause hit home because most of you know Jack was supposed to be blind but miraculously he is not but is visually impaired, but hes great!

Anyways, this race was definitely outrageous! It was 3.8 miles, we knew it was a mud run but really had no clue what we were in for. My good friend John is really really good friends with Gavins parents so I had seen his pictures of the first Mud Run they had done, and I kind of knew a little of what to expect, mud wise.

It was out of control fun, tons of food, lots of vendors, misters throughout, KROQ was there, they had a beer gardens and outdoor concerts, Richard Blade was the MC, great times.

So the race starts and it starts with a HUGE hill...already out of control, then we get to hay stacks to climb, then a netted wall and our first mud pit, I lost my shoes in it! So running with muddy socks inside of muddy shoes, excellent. Now we realized this was 3.8 miles of mud pits, walls to climb and obstacles. Towards the end of the 3.8 miles the mud pits got pretty intense, we were going from mud pits to big hills of mud which we had to climb full speed other wise we would slide down because of the mud. Then we had to army crawl through a few mud pits, no choice, there were nets that prevented us from keeping our heads any higher than 3 inches from the pit. Through out the course they had people with water hoses spraying us down and all! It was incredibly difficult but incredibly fun! We are definitely going to be going back for the next one, this time with lots more people by our sides!

Thanks Jen and John for letting us be apart of this great event!
This is the course...walking up to the starting line, they show this, we got real scared!
On our way
The huge team of Gavins Groupies, over 200+ of us, had the course cleared just for us

After the run...we werent nearly as muddy as some of the others, but we were surely beat up
My sister in law and I

It was the best time, so much fun, good food, great people and an even better cause!

A Work In Progress

I havent really had anything to say lately. Its been hotter than sin here. We've been going to the water park here and playing in the kids little pool and slip n slide! I can not find my SD card to my camera and so I have been missing out on some great pictures! We've been in California alot lately and I go back this weekend for a race with my cousin and sister inlaw. Its a mud run for the Foundation Against Blindness.

Quinnie is 4 months old! Growing like a champ. She is 12lbs 7 ounces, 23 inches long, shes only in the 30%ile but growing consistantly. She is rolllin and spinning and loves playing, she still sleeps like tired unemployed old man. That girls sleeps all day long and all night long in her crib. I was excited to get her started on solids but her super strict doctor told me not to. I have started the on solids at 4 months but I dont want to be lectured and so I will wait and do what the doctor says. Quinn loves her exersaucers, she has the cutest laugh and is as happy as can be, totally content with life. I hope this is a sign of what her personality it. When people are around her, they cant believe how calm and chill she is, even the doctor commented. Night and day from Oliver.

So I dont think its a secret that I am a shopaholic. If I was able to post a picture of my kids closets right now you would be borderline disgusted at how many clothes and toys they have. I have 2 whole drawers filled to the point of not closing of shorts. Not sure how that happened! When the heat started they had no shorts. I can go 3 weeks without washing Quinns laundry, which I know because I just had done that last week, and she still had plenty to wear! I cant help myself, I love shopping! I love clothes. I do need to put myself in check though, this is a little unnecessary. I stopped myself the other day from buying a 3rd exersaucer for Quinn! What goes through my mind when Im even considering this? Im not sure. But from this point on Im making a vow to calm down. Its hard when the Gap gave me 40% coupons!!!!, when I get emails from Lil Swanky about their summer sales and from Tutti Bella as well. So far so good, Ive been tempted! No one needs anything for a very long time. I mean I made a quick run to Kmart for an undershirt real quick and came home with 4 dvds adn a toy for each child, again unnecessary. So here I go........wish me luck. Celine Dion is right though when she says.."Its not what you give them, its how you raise them"....right?
