Lately, coming after taking care of my kids, I set my second priority to me! I recently found that taking care of me not only makes me happy but also makes me a joy to be around! Haha...

I recently started going to the gym again, trying to watch what I eat (haha who am I kidding, somewhat though) and caring and actually doing something about the way I look. I tend to just let myself go. Dont get me wrong, we all know, I will always dress nice and do my hair and make up but this goes further than that. Normally I let my hair cuts go and I just let my dye job fade in to the ....whatever its fading in to...I dont know. But not any more! I found an awesome stylist that is in sync with what I want so Im not afraid to get my hair cut any more! I bought my favorite shampoo, Thickening by Bumble & Bumble. For fine hair, it really is the best. I bought also the thickening spray and surf spray, all for more volume and body. Just with an updated head of hair, I feel better already! I love all these products, they make for a great blow out and hair day!
So now to working out. Ive been trying to go to spin class as you all know already. I love it and hate it. I hate getting up in the morning, thats the only part I hate, once Im up and at the gym, its a breeze, the feeling not the class! This class is super intense, it really tests your will to get fit. If you can make it through these classes you can do anything! I have also been doing the belly dancing class (great for hips and belly), zumba (just a latin dance aerobic class), and kick boxing. I spoke with one of the spin instructors and she said that I would want to do spin 3 days a week at the most and then just mix in with some strength training. Thats what Im trying to do! I lost 3 more lbs this week! Its great to feel good.
Im not only working out to lose weight, but also to feel good. When I get back from the gym, I really feel like I can conquer the world. I get more stuff done around the house, Im more tolerant with the kids and most important Im sooo happy. Your mood throughout the day really determines how productive you will be. I love feeling like this and so I try to make it to the gym as often as I can.
Now Im going to get in to skin care....Ive had a few questions about it, so I thought I would blog about it. I make a point to take great care of my skin...just who I am and I learned early. I am by no means a skin care expert or professional this is just little things that I have learned and what I believe.
First and foremost, protect your self from the sun/uv rays, so yes people that means tanning salons. I used to work at a tanning salon in high school and I was the only person that worked there that didnt tan! Luckily Im just not a fan of the tan look on myself either. Ok so spf your skin everyday...dont forget your neck and chest and hands....stay out of the sun as much as possible and stop baking yourself...your not a cookie, or you are, thats on you. Second, always wash your face before bed, NEVER go to sleep with make up on. There are times Im lazy and I keep facial wipes in my nightstand, those nights are few and far between, but they happen, so be prepared. Third, keep your skin hydrated, through plenty of water and cream. Just because your oily doesnt mean you do not wear moisturizer! Your skin is over producing oil because its lacking hydration, so give it some! And yes, hydrate at night! Get a great face scrub, the purpose is to get rid of dead skin cells to generate new ones. New skin is always a plus! Im not a fan of chemical scrubs, I like to feel it. Cosmedicine at Sephora has a reallly good scrub for a great price. Every now and then do a great mask, cleansing, hydrating, oxygen....something good! I also prefer to stay away from heavy make up such as foundation, find a good tinted moisturizer with spf, or just use a good powder! Stop re-applying make up through out the day. I take great care of my skin and there for my make up stays on all day. The only time I re-apply is if Im going some where special at night or what not. But my theory is...through out the day, your face acquires dirt, oil, stuff like that and then you trap all that stuff under more make up...then it has no choice but to sink in to your skin. Again just my theory.
These are my basics...nothing fancy. Nothing too hard to get a great complexion. Great skin = pretty people!
I have done a post about the products I love before so you can reference those
