I guess, to a certain extent.
Strangers, I could care less, friends and family, maybe.
I mean my mom sees my blog, I dont mind, my sister inlaw sees my blog, I dont mind, I have a few real life friends that see my blog, again I dont mind.
Ok, what brought me to this question is that yesterday I got an email saying that someone was looking for my twitter by entering my email address. First I was a little flattered that someone cared enough about me to do searches for me. Second, I didnt know that my twitter is unsearchable by email, I dont know how that came about but kind of greatful it did. So it let me know who and gave me the option to click on their twitter and then follow if I wanted them to know my twitter. I did not do that because I have my blog link on my twitter and obviously he would go there. This person is a hockey contact. I have my facebook which was initially started because all my hockey people were asking me to get one, then it graduated to high school friends and now its full of family as well. I still feel weird getting personal on my face book because of the "work" aspect of it. I wasnt about to deny my family friendship on facebook though. So I feel that my blog is my personal space that I really would rather my "work" life know nothing about. I mean hockey is a BIG part of my life as are the people, but there are somethings I would like to keep private even though they pretty much know it all already. Do you get what I am saying or am I just making no sense at all?
I dont write bad things about people on my blog that I wouldnt say to peoples faces but its just the fact that I want a space that is MINE! I dont want to have to limit myself on what I post or talk about because of who might see it.
Do any of you feel this way or am I just a crazy person for wanting this, or maybe its my hormones, they HAVE been acting up lately.
**You know what I just thought of? If this person is searching my email looking for a twitter account that I may or may not have, they may just have googled me too. In that case, my cover is blown. Sheesh. Hi Chad.

My ex-boyfriend reads my blog. His other ex-girlfriend reads my blog too. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. I WANT TO WRITE ABOUT IT. Those are the only two people I don't really want reading my blog. Other than that, I don't care.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm technically anonymous because I got in deep s--t with my grad program because of my blog... So I guess I don't want them reading it either!
Hi there ! Added myself to your follow friday and can't wait to follow each others blogs ! You can find me at http://www.msslaydbug.com
ReplyDeleteFollowing back from FF! Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI've always been afraid to use my blog for personal outlets, private stuff.
ReplyDeleteLots of people do though. Most set up the blog with just a first name or a fake name and then put all sorts of stuff out there. One person blogged about how her husband's patients Googled him, and found her blog. At some point she must have put her last name on the blog or some other thing. They found out a lot about her and her husband's life.
When I write, I just imagine that it is something that will be seen on TV by anybody in the world, and that keeps me from saying anything that I'd regret.
But,that's just me. I tend to vent to a girlfriend over the phone and use the blogging as a hobby.
Anything in cyberspace can be found if someone is looking hard enough.
I completely understand what you mean. I like that most of my family doesn't know about my blog...it is nice to have somethings that I can share with only my blog friends that really my family doesn't need to know!
ReplyDeleteFollowing from FF! Nice to meet you!

Anita...I wish I could limit myself. I just talk way too much to be able to shhh myself on the internet. Oh well, if people dont like what they see, its their problem for searching so hard for me, right?
ReplyDeleteBoob Nazi - ya the internet is crazy and schools and employers search for their people to check out what they are doing, so good for you to go anonymous!
Hello. Stopping by from Friday Follow! Love the blog and totally feel you.

Following from Friday Follow. Totally know what you mean - I have been blogging for awhile, but no one other than a few friends read it and I've just started being more public. It's weird. But kind of cool too.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog - love the little retro pictures. And I just noticed your favorite books, and those are 4 of my faves too - especially Jemima J, SO good!

ReplyDeleteWhat's your connection to hockey? We are a HUGE hockey family. The hubs plays and refs, and Buddy has been in hockey already for almost 2 years.
I do what Trish does. My sister read one of my blogs and she found my other one and all hell broke loose. I was venting about her lack of being there for me. She didn't talk to me for 2 months. Now my blog is private from her. I deleted my othe one that she had the link to.
ReplyDeletewoops, meant to type OTHER one
ReplyDeleteFollowing you for follow friday! Nice to meet you! Great blog!!
ReplyDeleteI know what your talking about! There are certain stalkers I dont want looking at my blog but they still do and regardless of what I write whether its about them or not, they still think its about them,so I might as well write about them, hehe.but no, its embarrassing enough as it is, why air my dirty laundry when they do a fine enough job themselves with their crying!
ReplyDeleteso true about employers but some people just dont learn!
i think you should stay the way you are!!
ReplyDeleteTrish we don't do facebook or twitter. I'm pretty sure I would want my privacy intact.
ReplyDeleteI don't have my blog set to private though. Hmmmm... What to do?
Thanks for you sweet visit my friend.
~Warmly, ~Melissa :)
That is a tough one! There are a lot of lurkers out there for sure. SOmetimes I wonder who they are, because they may spend an hour on my blog and never comment, I have that sitemeter thingy...but regardless I feel no harm done. I am following you from the Friday hop...hope to see you soon..you can lurk I don't mind LOL!!~
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have a Jack too! He is my youngest at 8 years old, love the name it was my Gramps name!
ReplyDeleteFound you through Theta Mom-- glad I did because I struggle on and off with this issue - even now 2yrs later...so.. You are not crazy! I like to keep my blog life separate from some people--- cant explain what divides those who I am ok with reading my site and those who that I do not want to read it-- but I Definitely have my mental lists.... And it can be hard.
ReplyDeleteIve even had an instance where someone IRL found my blog was Inspired so they started their own-- and pretty much began to mirror my every move, chat on twitter - etc.
Talk ab invading spaces.
Anyways- you are not alone :)
You could always look into an IP tracker & blocker, but I'll warn you, it is a pain in the butt to keep on top of. I've given up. And I still write whatever the heck I want and shrug it off if people I'd rather not read it happen to. At least I was 'real', I suppose. Haha.
